According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Beyond Good & Evil movie is directed by Detective Pikachu and Goosebumps director Rob Letterman.

The film is described as a hybrid live-action/animated feature. It’s early days, and the search is on for writers to adapt the game.

The news comes at a time when Beyond Good & Evil 2 is in desperate need of an update. The prequel to Michel Ancel’s 2003 cult classic finally resurfaced in June 2017, nearly a decade after it was initially teased, and it was then shown to press the following year, at E3 2018. But the game skipped E3 2019, and we haven’t seen anything of it so far in 2020. Perhaps Beyond Good & Evil 2 will show up at one of Ubisoft’s upcoming digital events?
